 On my secondary monitor there appears to be a second taskbar behind the win 7 one. I can just see it through the taskbar transparency.

How can I remove it?

Please, describe your situation with more details.
How many monitors do you have? On which monitor do you have Win7 taskbar? Did you have the same situation after reboot of the computer?

 Thanks, I think the problem was multi mon taskbar which I  had uninstalled but must have only properly disappeared when I rebooted.
