Actual Tools Multiple Monitors 8.15.2 Evaluation
Windows 10 22H2 64 bit
I am hoping to use Actual Multi Monitor's mirror feature to enable using an XPPen Artist Pro 16 drawing tablet to draw on only a part an application running on my 4K 50-inch main monitor. This is not working for several reasons.
Using Microsoft Paint as an example.
If I move Paint's window onto the XPPen tablet screen (2560x1600), it works fine. That is to say, with either the mouse or the XPPen, I can draw on the paint area. Also, keyboard commands and commands fr om the XPPen's keypad work fine.
But the case I am trying to implement is wh ere Paint's window (in this example) is positioned on the main 4K monitor, say occupying approximately the upper right quarter of the 4k.
I then use AMM's configuration tool Multiple Monitors > Mirroring to sel ect either "Part of Desktop", dragging a rectangle over the Paint window. or Window, and select the Paint window fr om the list.
At this point, I can use the mouse on the mirrored Paint window on the tablet to draw successfully.
However, using the pen on the mirror has several problems:
1. Pressing the pen on the tablet causes the Paint application to lose focus, so drawing gestures have no effect.
2. When the pen is just above the tablet screen, the pen's visible indicator follows the pen's physical tip.
But, when pressing the pen down, the pen cursor's Y position jumps to about 236 pixels above the pen's actual position. This is visible on the tablet and on the main screen. (The X position is correct.)
3. Since the Paint application has lost focus due to the pen activity, keystrokes and XPPen keypad button presses do not go to Paint.
I have tried these tests with other drawing software, with the same results.
Am I missing some configuration needed for this application?
Thanks.
Later update:
I happened to try Zoom's Whiteboard. Again opening it on the 4k big monitor, then mirror it to the XPPen tablet screen.
In this case, the pen CAN draw on the whiteboard and click on-screen buttons (though the Y offset of 236 pixels is still in effect, so not really practical).
Now, using the pen to draw on Whiteboard does draw a line or shape, but also deselects the Zoom Whiteboard application (as judged by taskbar indication), so again, keyboard and keypad presses don't go to Whiteboard. (It's odd that the pen can draw on an unselected window, but somehow that works. Maybe it has something to do with Whiteboard being shared over the network, so in some sense is always "live").
