Actual Window Manager
Despite some evident drawbacks, Windows has the right concept of «windows» (ha-ha). This concept is proven to be very effective for organizing several «primary» tasks (that you work with) alongside with many «secondary» ones (which you just observe or rarely switch to or consult with). But, the more intensively you work, the stronger you feel that Windows’ current window-organizing capabilities are far not enough for your complex tasks. You’d like to have the same windows, but have by much more ways to organize and handle them. And you can: a huge number of advanced ways to organize windows becomes available once you’ve installed Actual Window Manager.
Here’s a quick list of Actual Window Manager’s capabilities: roll-up any window to header, make it transparent, make it topmost (stay-on-top) or bottommost (pin-to-desktop), resize it to the arbitrary size and move it to a specific position with a single click, minimize window to tray and remove a window’s button from Taskbar, and much more.
How will you use that? There are several ways for that. First, there are several additional buttons in each window’s title bar (and also several items in each window’s system menu) to immediately make the change. Other than that, there are many settings you can apply to all windows, or to specific ones (by title, or name, or application name). Once you’ve set those options, the windows will always respect them. Therefore, you can set up your overall windows much beyond the narrow list of the standard options.
