Topic: «Buying AWM now , v3,v4,v5... buying AWM and many major ver updates » on forum: General   Views: 7858

 I've finally decided to buy AWM. I mean, it's a greap application. BUT in my humble opinion its QUITE pricey. I mean, most of the software I buy is usually within 20-30 bucks range, when AWM is 60. Anyhow, here's my question.

1. Usually when one buys a program one has to pay for a major upgrades only (= v4 > v5, for example). But as far as I can see AWM is being developed quite rapidly. I mean, it feels like v3 was released only recently and now it's already v5. Most other programs I own have major updates only once a year or even less. I mean they DO develop a lot, but with doing a lot of minor version updates (1.xxx).
Do your clients pay for each and every version? OK, OK, lemme rephrase: AWM develops quite fast and thus there's been many major upgrades, will I have to pay for each of those? What if you'll release a major version every 2 monts or so?

2. v5 is in beta atm. If I buy AWM now, will I have to buy v5 when it goes final (=will buying now count as v4 or v5)? Or should I better wait?

Well, that's it. Anyhow guys, I really do think it's a great product, but the rapid development, price and many major version upgrades make me think twice about buying ;/ I hope someone could clear that up for me a bit :)

Thanks for your final (I hope irrevocable) decision to buy AWM.

1. Well, AWM v3 was launched at 13.10.2004, v4 at 05.05.2006, v5 is planned to be at September-October 2007, so the updates confirm the stated in your message a one-year interval, not quite rapid :)

2. According to Actual Tools' policy active beta-testers are always eligible for favorable terms. I think you'd better come in contact with us via e-mail: support@actualtools.com.

1. Well, my bad then, but as I said it just seemed fast to me :)
2. I'll do that then. But again, I'll better wait for v5 final if I can't get a v5 license now.
But as for beta testing, yeah, I'm actually a beta tester (official) for several other applications (FTPRush, EssentialPIM, and some others).
