Hi,

I'm seeing consistently high CPU usage after upgrading from 5.5b1 - around 30% from explorer.exe and 20% from AWM. If I stop AWM (but leave it loaded), the AWM process falls to zero, but explorer.exe stays at 30%. If I quit AWM completely, I'm back to 99% System Idle.

I tried changing the multi-monitor settings, disabling various options, and turning off the notification area, etc. on the secondary monitor. But the only thing which helps is to completely turn off the multi-monitor taskbar, and even then I'm left with the explorer.exe process running at 30%.

I use RMClock to scale my CPU and keep the fan running slowly and quietly, and so AWM now creates a lot of noise in the office! I really like the new features, but the energy consumption is just too much to justify :)

Hope this is easy to fix - happy as always to fiddle and test...

Cheers,

Dave.

I have the same problem at the moment. Actualwindowmanagercenter.exe at about 10% CPU and Explorer.exe at about 16% CPU...

I'll go back to the stable version 5.4 now, to much hassle with b2

System:
DUAL WIN7 (32bit)/WIN10 PRO (64bit)
CPU Q9550S
4GB RAM
Nvidia 460GTX

After about an hour this morning of high CPU, the screen flickered and corrupted (everything went black, and parts were redrawn in the wrong place as I moved the mouse around). After a CTRL+ALT+DEL and 'cancel' to get the desktop back, explorer.exe had crashed and AWM was now running at 50% CPU (on a dual core chip, I guess that's full tilt). I right-clicked the AWM tray icon and selected 'Stop' to see if that helped and got the following application error in a dialog box:

---------------------------
Application Error
---------------------------
Exception EAccessViolation in module aimemb.dll at 0002919F.
Access violation at address 02B1919F in module 'aimemb.dll'. Read of address 02C3E488.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Don't know if its related to the CPU usage, but I'm going back to 5.5b1 for now.

Cheers,

Dave.

Yeah, B1 was quite fine...I'd go back to that version too, but it will time out in the near future...

Gentlemen,

Today we'll release an update for B2 with some most nasty bugs fixed (at least, we suppose so ). So please be patient a bit. Sorry for the troubles.

Well, it's ready and available for downloading. Please check with this updated B2 whether the high CPU utilization issue still persists or it's gone. Thank you for your help and patience!

Definite improvement - the AWM process is back down to a couple of %, but I still see explorer hovering around 20%-25%. Fortunately that's not enough to trigger a frequency change from RMClock, so my CPU stays cool and fan is silent :) But its definitely still higher than b1 - I tried disabling the multi-monitor taskbar stuff, but it didn't make any difference. Also, stopping AWM from the tray icon doesn't make any difference either, but quitting altogether does.

Happy to try turning off other things if you want to give me a pointer. But I can live with it OK for now.

Cheers,

Dave.
