WinXP Pro SP2
AWM 5.0 beta 3
XYplorer 6.50
In the rule for
XYplorer
, I use the following settings (please note that spaces are present):
Target Window:
Window caption (substring match):
" - XYplorer @ "
(The quotes are not part of the string matched on; they merely show that there is a space at the beginning and end of the string.)
Program:
C:\Program Files\XYplorer\XYplorer.exe
Startup:
Resize:
1280x971
Open as:
Maximized
These Startup settings work fine for most of my other programs, but not for XYplorer. With XYplorer, the window is neither resized to 1280x971, nor maximized at startup. If I use the
Reapply settings
button function on XYplorer's title bar, the window
does
resize to 1280x971,
and
become maximized.

I just found that if I disable the
Window caption
option, XYplorer will resize and maximize at startup. However, some mysterious window belonging to XYplorer (with the class name "Static") also gets resized and maximized. This "Static" window is all-gray and obviously is not meant to be resized or seen in this manner.) Excluding the "Static" class for XYplorer.exe does not help.

Scott,
Try to use the following values in the Target Window pane:
class: ThunderRT6FormDC
caption: -
(not required)
program: C:\Program Files\XYplorer\XYplorer.exe
What happens in this case?

Thank you; that works fine. But the problem that arises (though it is a minor problem) is that the XYplorer options window also uses the ThunderRT6FormDC class name, and this rule resizes the options window as well. I've tried excluding the options window (via partial-string caption rule) but it does not work.

Scott,
To prevent this, please close all windows, that belong to XYplorer. After this modify the existing rule (for the main window) to:
class: ThunderRT6FormDC
caption (
exact match
): XYplorer
program: C:\Program Files\XYplorer\XYplorer.exe
Does it help?

It works nicely for XYplorer startup, but since XYplorer quickly changes the title bar content (e.g. title bar "XYplorer" changes to "D:\Data\Media\Movies - XYplorer @ XYplorer.ini - v6.50.0000"), the
Reapply settings
function does not work.

Scott,
Please create two specific settings for
XYplorer
.
1st settings:
The Target Window
values should be as suggested. This window rule will be applied to
XYplorer
window at startup.
2d settings:
The Target Window
values as described in your first message.
Does it help?

Wonderful! It works. The XYplorer configuration window is still resized, but this is a minor problem.
Thank you very much. I apologize for needing so much hand-holding with such a simple problem. I am a long-time registered user of AWM, but have not been able to use it due to longstanding issues (hence my stupidity).
