If I drag a shortcut from the start menu to a Actual Tools secondary taskbar then click the shortcut I get this error.

User added an image

Some apps continue to open after dismissing the error message.  Some don't.

If I also add the shortcut to the primary Windows 7 taskbar the error does not occur.

Dear Jeremy,

Please, give us more information about the problem.

What edition of your system? (32 or 64)
The shortcuts for what application did you pin and try run then?

Wow.  I thought it was for all apps, but it just so happened to be the ones I was using yesterday.

Programs that throw the error...
  • All Office 2010 programs
  • Google Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Internet Explorer 32-bit
Photoshop pins but doesn't show the icon and doesn't open when clicked.
Windows Explorer doesn't pin at all.

Added OS info. to my sig.

Thank you, Jeremy!

I was able to reproduce the problem. We'll fix it.

Unfortunately, we failed to find any workaround for temporary solution of the problem.

All fixed in the service release (although it expired about 5 hours after install).

Thanks!
