Hello, David

Thank you for sending the screenshots. Unfortunately, they didn't shed light upon what causes the problem.

Could you send us your AWM configuration files using the Send to Tech support tool (AWM configuration module > Tools > Configuration > Send to Tech Support). Change the "To..." email address to bogdan@actualtools.com and add a link to this topic in the email as usual.

Could you also enable the "Collect usage statistics" option in Actual Window Manager (AWM configuration module > Options > General > Collect usage statistics), and when the problem happens again, try to track the time the problem starts and write it down (approximate time is still good). Then go to %appdata%\Actual Tools\Actual Window Manager folder, find the CenterEvents.log file and send it to bogdan@actualtools.com and also specify the time when the problem started.

Best regards.

Is there any news on this? It seems to be getting worse, and I now have to keep task manager open to monitor AWM :). It's happening 5–10 times an hour at the moment (still not sure if it's due to the combination of apps I'm using) but FreeCommander XE seems to be implicated; at least I can tell when AWM has gone awry because FC becomes extremely sluggish.

I've sent a few details via email, but not sure if you're waiting for something else?

David,

The last email from you I was able to find is from November 12th of 2019. Do you mean you've sent anything else since that time? Could you send the email again to bogdan@actualtools.com and enable the option to request delivery and read receipts for it?

Best regadrs.

No, that's right. I sent dump files / screen shots from process explorer on Sep 18th, Nov 8th, and Nov 11th. But I haven't heard anything since, and the problem still persists...

If you'd asked for anything else, I didn't receive the request I'm afraid.

Many thanks,

David

Hi David,

Thank you for your cooperation and sorry for taking so much time to investigate this issue.

It seems I have to ask you make the dumps of the *Center.exe process again: one in its normal state and another in about 30-60 seconds after the problem re-appears. One subtle but crucial detail: this time, to capture dumps, please run the 32-bit version of Task Manager, it's located here: %WinDir%\SysWOW64\taskmgr.exe.

Many thanks!

Hello, David

I've been seeing occasional runaway process—always ActualWindowManagerCentrer.exe (not the Center64.exe or ShellCenter64.exe processes). Once it happens, pausing AWM and restarting will cure it for a while, but eventually something triggers it again, and that process is back to 100%. In task manager, it actually shows as just below 20% with having a 6-core CPU I'm guessing it wouldn't normally get above that in a single thread.

I'm glad to notify you that the subject issue has been fixed and the fix is available in the latest version of Actual Window Manager 8.14.4 and our other products as well.

You can update your program to the latest version (program's tray icon context menu > Info > Check for Updates) or download the latest version manually, install it and confirm the fix.

Best regards.
