Attaching two images, first is with Word as I would normally have - a single page display, you'll see that buttons are obscured

The second with a wider window where the buttons can be seen

Any known solution or workaround

Thanks Phil D

Philip,

The problem is that title buttons overlap the Word window caption. Do you want the ability to set different color/appearance for the buttons for particular windows so that it is possible to make the buttons stand out? Or do you want the gradual compact view mode for the buttons to work in such manner, so that title buttons and window title never overlap?
Automatic gradual Compact View works this way: the buttons are getting hidden/shown 1-by-1 if there is not enough (or enough again) place in the title bar to show the full list of enabled extra buttons. When some buttons get hidden, the special Compact View button automatically appears on the left of remained buttons: click on this button will display the currently hidden buttons.

Also, there are two possible workarounds depending on whether ability to see window title and common extra title button appearance are important for you:
1) You can try to use the "Office 2007 style" option in the settings for MS Office applications and see whether the buttons become more distinguishable (Configuration module > Window Settings > Specific Settings for particular Office app > Title Buttons > Options section in the bottom part of the window > Office 2007 style). In this case window title will be overlapped by the buttons and the buttons appearance may not match the application appearance well.
2) You can use the "Compact view" option in the same Options section. In this case only the Compact View button will be displayed on the title bar, and the panel containing all title buttons will be displayed upon clicking the Compact View button. The panel is opaque and will overlap the window title, but only when you open it.
