Ive been running AMM for a few years with no problem (current version: v8.1.4)

Since a few days ago, something started going wrong though.

When I open ANY program on my Primary Display it works fine: The program opens in a window on that display and there is a button for that program on the Windows Taskbar (all on the primary display).

However, if I open ANY program from my Secondary Display, it opens the program window on that display, but then it adds TWO buttons on the taskbar, one on each display.

This is driving me nuts!
Can someone please help.

This never used to happen till afew days ago, and I have not changed anything in settings whatsoever.
Since the problem started I have tried changing every setting I can think of, but nothing seems to work.

Please let me know if you need more information or screenshots.
Regards, and thank you in advance!

Thank you for your post, Andre!

This behavior seems like the Mixed mode of the taskbar. Please make sure you have Individual mode selected at Actual Multiple Monitors -> Multiple Monitors -> Taskbar.

Best regards!

That's Windows' default behavior as well. It doesn't make much sense to me either. I'm on my HTPC at the moment with only a single monitor so I can't see the specific option but if you can't resolve it through the AWM options (you mention not changing any settings, so that may be the case) the next step would be to look under the options that come up on right clicking the taskbar and choosing Properties. Fr om memory it's a dropdown menu that says "Show on every monitor" that needs to be changed to "Show only on monitor wh ere window exists"

Gentlemen, thank you for your replies.

Andre, are you using any third-party taskbar extensions, toolbars, etc?

Best regards!

Hi AM

No, no other taskbar programs.

The only change I can think of on my PC was a recent Win 7 update.
It restarted my computer and reshuffled my desktop icons.

Not sure if it is related

Hello Andre Du Toit,

Could you check whether the problem persists with the current 8.2.2 version of Actual Multiple Monitors (download link - http://www.actualtools.com/files/ammsetup.exe) or not?

If the problem persists please do the test:
1. Install Actual Window Manager 8.2.2 (download link - http://www.actualtools.com/files/aimsetup.exe);
2. Check whether you are able to reproduce the problem or not;
3. If you are able to reproduce the problem run notepad.exe from the system32 folder;
4. Create Specific Settings for Notepad with the "Remove taskbar entry" option (Actual Window Manager -> Window Settings -> Specific Settings -> Startup tab -> Remove taskbar entry) enabled;
5. Check whether the Notepad taskbar icon disappeared from taskbars or not;
6. Repeat steps 3-5 with notepad.exe from the syswow64 folder;
7. Inform me about results of the test.

Best regards.
