Hi,

Running AMM v8.14.4 and Open-Shell v4.4.160 on up-to-date x64 Windows 10 Enterprise. Everything seems to work fine, but when I plug in a new monitor, either via USB-C or HDMI, explorer crashes without fail.  Restoring functionality requires stopping all AMM processes, then restarting explorer.exe, after which things continue to work perfectly.

I've tried the recommended troubleshooting steps of disabling "Default settings and both options in the Manage Window Settings group" to no avail. I've not added any other options or customizations. Everything seems to work fine with any number of dual or triple monitor combinations -- except for this major crash when plygging th emonitor in.

Would love any tips or resolutions available -- I notice the latest update in October claims OpenShell functionality has been restored.

Much appreciated!

Hello, throwaway-2828

Thank you for contacting us.

Does the problem not persist if you exit Open-Shell before plugging a new monitor?

Do the problem persist if you disable the AMM taskbars (AMM configuration module > Multiple Monitors > Taskbar > Multi-monitor taskbar) before connecting a new monitor with Open-Shell running?

Could you specify the exact number of your Windows build (type winver in the Search field of the Windows Start menu, press Enter. The Window containing the build number will appear).

Best regards.

Hello, I have same issue on AMM 8.14.5 Steam version (same issue is on the latest version 8.15.3 ) . On Windows 7 it runs perfectly after connect external monitor, but on Windows 10 (22H2 19045.6466) it keeps crashing explorer.exe until I force quit AMM via Task Manager and then restart Explorer.exe manually.

I still have same laptop (Lenovo Y50-70 with Core i5 4210H , Nvidia GeForce 960M 4GB, 16GB RAM and 1 TB Verbatim SSD) .

The problem is almost persist AMM. Only soliton which little help (8/10 connects works) is set AMM compatibility mode to Windows 8.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

EDIT: Now I set Windows 7compatibility only on ActualMultipleMonitorsShellCenter64.exe file. So, now I muat wait and testing for any Explorer.exe hang.
