In Excel 2007 or 2010 when you have more than one file open,  when you click on the taskbar button for Excel on the Multiple-Monitor Taskbar then Excel does not minimize. It does minimize on the regular Windows 7 taskber.

I have one addition: this problem only occurs when all Excel windows have their own taskbar button. If Excel always has just one taskbar button irrespective of the number of Excel windows (can be set under options > advanced options > display > uncheck the checkbox display all windows on taskbar [translated from Dutch, may be a little bit off]) it does work correctly.

I have confirmed Pim's comment. Also, just to clarify that Pim is referring to an Excel setting; not the settings for the Windows 7 taskbar which can be located by right-clicking on the Start button > Properties > Taskbar (tab) > Taskbar Buttons: Always Combine, hide labels.

Note that Pim's option is not the standard Excel configuration. Most power-users utilizing multiple monitors will have windows displayed for each open file.

By the way, in Excel 2010 it would be:
File > Options > Advanced > Display > uncheck the checkbox for: Show all windows in the Taskbar

Thank you for the confirmation.

Pim, could you confirm/reject the fix, too?

Hello Alex,

Because I always combine the Excel taskbar buttons in one button, this was not really an issue to me, so I had not looked whether it was solved. I will be able to check this weekend, because I am currently working on a one monitor system with Vista's native taskbar. I'll be back and inform you of the results.
