I read somewhere that with AMM I could have a game running on my primary screen and e.g. a browser on my secondary screen and I could click on and use the secondary screen without the game on my primary screen minimising.

This isn't working for me, so could you advise whether this is actually possible with AMM and if so, how to achieve it?

Will work only with windowed games.

Hello Derek,

Thanks for the post.

What game do you want to have this feature with?

Have you tried to use the "Ignore deactivation" feature + the "Lock mouse" feature to get it?

Best regards.

Hi

I think I tested it with The Witcher but I was hoping to use it with lots of different games, none of which I play windowed.

I haven't tried the "Ignore deactivation" feature, so I'll try that thanks. Do I just press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+I after starting the game to enable this?

I don't think the "Lock Mouse" feature would help me, as I need to use the mouse in the game on the Primary screen when I'm playing it but then use it on the Secondary screen when I want to check something in my browser, so the cursor needs to be able to move between screens.

FYI...

With most of the games I have tested (rFactor, Race On, etc), the hotkey does NOT work.  I have to create a profile for that game and set "Ignore deactivation" on.  It is then always on.  Not ideal, but that does work for me as I just start what I need ahead of time on the 4th monitor.  (3 monitors in SLI surround gaming with 4th as a utility screen, voice comm software etc.).

Thanks, but where do you create a profile for a game? I can't seem to find that section.

Hello Derek,

There is no the "Ignore deactivation" feature on an application startup in Actual Multiple Monitors.

Actual Window Manager includes this feature (Actual Window Manager -> Window Settings -> Specific settings -> Startup tab -> Ignore deactivation).

Best regards.

OK, thanks. I'll have a look at AWM.

Does the "Ignore Deactivation" feature in AMM not work as suggested by Chris then?

It DOES work, but not the way it's documented.  The HOTKEY does not work.  You either set it on for the game and it works, or you set it off.  The convenience of the hotkey would be the option to turn it on and off at will.  I've never been able to get that to work.  There may be some games that do, but nothing I use.
