Dear fellow beta testers,

Unfortunately, the next beta seems to be late. Please be patient and wait for a weekend - we'll try to roll it out as soon as possible.

Sorry for this delay and thank you for understanding.

No problem, thanks fje the notification. I miss this feature "[+] Compact mode for extra title buttons is now available: it displays the small narrow button instead of the full list of active buttons.". But I will install 8.1.4 until new beta.
Greetings from Kosovo!

My version now says its expired so it refuses to run (which still seems like a odd way to treat your paying customers)

It's the beta version which expires. Go back to the latest stable version if you can't wait for 2 days....

This doesn't seem like a good way to go. Why would it expire? What is there for me to gain to use beta's? Nothing (if it keeps expiring). And why does it expire so soon? Why not let it overlap? Or why have it expire when there is no new version. It should only expire if there is a new beta. Which currently there is none.

And yes i can't wait for two days as i like to use both my monitors properly.

Sure, I agree with you that it's a nuisance....but there are worse things in life, isn't it?

Hm, I tried to do just that. I installed AWM 8.1.4 over the beta, but it didn't work. So I deinstalled AWM completely and reinstalled version 8.1.4 (which is offered for download as the current stable version), but it still says it's version 8.2 beta 4 and stops working after a few minutes (yes, I did reboot my computer).

I could try to deinstall it using Revo Uninstaller Pro, deleting all additional files and registry entries that might have been left back. I was able to save my configuration from within AWM - will this be enough to restore every single setting, including specific window settings, exclusions etc.?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Cheers,
Jan

You have moved the mouse. Windows must be restarted for the changes to take effect.

Jan,

For future reference I would never attempt to install an older version of software over a newer version. I'm not sure of the viability of going to a prior version of the software using newer user data. It might or might not work. Depends completely on if the data structures have been modified and/or how well the software works with its data -- being intelligent or not.

I would always make a backup of whatever user data before installing any newer version of software (or performing a rollback on said software).

My suggestion: Install AWM 8.2 Beta 4 again. Then uninstall AWM 8.2 Beta 4. That should clean up whatever problems were created installing a prior version over a newer version. Reboot. Then install AWM 8.1.4 and you should be good to go. Attempt to reload your saved user data (AWM backup).

Sincerely,
Lars
