I have a two monitor setup where my left monitor (#2) has no desktop icons and always has Outlook open and my right monitor (#1) is filled with desktop icons and has several programs open.  When I save an attachment I received in Outlook to my desktop it gets placed on my right monitor underneath all of those programs and I have to search to find it among all of the other icons.  I suppose could learn to do this (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/minimize-open-windows-view-desktop#1TC=windows-7) but I thought it would be just as nice if saving a file to desktop saved the file to the local desktop instead of whichever desktop/monitor is the primary desktop.

Hello Kevin,

Thanks for the post.

You could try the following steps:
1. Create a new folder on the desktop;
2. Move the folder to your monitor #2;
3. Save Outlook attachments to the folder.

Does it fit your needs?

While I won't disagree that what you suggest could work, i'd prefer not to save my attachments to a folder.  Is it easy enough to change my left monitor the primary, and the right monitor the secondary, but keep all of my desktop icons on the right monitor where they are?

My only concern with this is when I take my laptop out of it's docking station, all of the desktop icons that are then on the secondary monitor will then become a mess on my laptop's single screen.  I suppose this isn't much of an issue since it does this anyway, but I'd like to keep my icons on that screen in the same position regardless of what monitor(s) I have connected.

Kevin,

Did you try the "Save/Restore desktop icons order" feature to avoid the desktop icons reordering?

I'm using the save & restore desktop icons order functions for when I plug my laptop back into the docking station.  Can I save a different profile/setting for when my laptop is out of it's dock?  I thought I read another feature request asking for multiple save profiles and that the request was being considered:

Kevin,

If you have different resolutions of your whole desktop when the laptop docked and undocked, our product saves both desktop icons orders and restores them respectively to a desktop resolution.

I did not know that.  I will try that out the next time I take my laptop out of it's dock. Thanks.
