I'm using AWM 8.2.2, although this particular problem is something that has occurred in previous editions of AWM also.

I usually have 'Sticky Keys' switched on, and whenever using either Word 2013 or Excel 2013 and I press the ALT key (which you will appreciate is with moderate frequency), the program reacts as though I'm pressing it repeatedly, because all the tab group accelerator keys flash which is what would happen if I were to keep pressing the ALT key.

The program won't accept any other keystrokes from me when this happens and the only way I can stop the flashing accelerator keys is to press the SHIFT key five times (which is how to switch sticky keys off).

The only other way I can prevent this from happening is by turning AWM off, so I'm assuming AWM has something to do with the whole issue. Unfortunately no matter what settings I've tried to change in AWM it has no effect on the problem.

Has anybody else come across this particular problem before, or have any ideas as to what settings in AWM I could change?

Any help appreciated!

James.

Hello James,

Thanks for the post.

Could you specify your OS (version, 32 or 64-bit) and send us your configuration files (Actual Window Manager -> Tools -> Configuration -> Send to Tech Support)?

Please don't forget to insert a link to this post in your email with configuration files.

Best regards.

Thank you Vasiliy,

I've just sent you the email with configuration files.

I believe the information is contained within, but in any case, my OS is Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64-bit

Incidentally, yesterday I tried to reproduce this same problem in a Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64-bit installation running as a guest in VirtualBox on a Linux host - with the result that I encounter precisely the same problem.

Kindest regards,

James.

James,

Unfortunately, I was unable to reproduce the problem (I tested with MS Word and Excel 2013 on the Windows 8.1 x64 machine).

Are you able to reproduce the problem without VirtualBox on a standard Windows 8.1 x64 system?

If yes, please send me ( support@actualtools.com ) a small video of the problem.

Best regards.

Hi Vasily,

Yes, I originally encountered the problem on a standard Windows 8.1 x64 system, and only tried to reproduce it on a virtual machine afterwards.

I like the idea of a small video and I shall endeavour to send you one now.

I've seen people produce good videos before whereby their keystrokes are presented on-screen, but I don't know how that is done - is there a website, or software that you know about with which I can get this job done?

Many thanks,

James.

Thank you, Vasiliy

I've sent you the video now.

I didn't know much about screen casting before today so it was interesting to learn a little about how to do it, and as it happens I learnt that it can be done quite easily (and well) in VLC.

Kindest regards,

James.
